CONQUERING YOUR CHALLENGES IN SCHOOL NOW

EQUIPS YOU FOR MANY OF THE CHALLENGES IN

LIFE

Our daughter struggled with starting her homework, completing assigned tasks, and getting work turned in. She often denied accountability, required constant supervision and was defensive and argumentative. In the couple months she's worked with Jodi, she's gained a huge amount of independence and pride in her work. She completes assignments thoroughly and on time and is now working on higher level skills such as creating long term study plans and essay outlines. Jodi is always able to find a way to engage with her and enlist her cooperation, while also giving us ongoing feedback on the most effective way to support our daughter's education.

THE CHALLENGES

What is executive function and why is this a critical area

to strengthen?

Executive function skills include the ability to initiate tasks, manage time, prioritize, have goal-directed persistence, engage metacognition, be flexible, utilize working memory, and tolerate stress. Building these skills allows our children and young adults to slow down, create order, and become efficient and effective in their schoolwork as well as other aspects of their lives.

Could your student benefit from executive function support?

Does your student:

  • Find it hard to figure out how to get started on a task?

  • Lack motivation to do their best?

  • Need help developing organizational skills?

  • Consistently have missing and late assignments?

  • Frustratingly realize something is due tomorrow?

  • Struggle to sustain effort?

  • Spend hours on homework, yet accomplish little?

  • Neglect to appropriately plan time in advance of assessments?

  • Tell you they are fine studying on their own, yet low grades follow?

  • Have trouble predicting how much time a task requires?

  • Struggle to plan long term projects?

  • Find it hard to incorporate feedback into work or an activity?

  • Have difficulty paying attention and staying on task?

  • Need instructions repeated many times?

If you answered yes to any of the above, I can help.
